Hi there, I’m Vinay!

Introvert, filter-coffee connoisseur, and a font hoarder. Thanks for checking out my tiny corner of the internet.

Introvert, filter-coffee connoisseur, and a font hoarder. Thanks for checking out my tiny corner of the internet.

In the world of fancy job titles, I'm your Product Designer - or a UI/UX designer, or simply that 'make it beautiful' person. Whatever the title, I love creating experiences that make people’s lives a little easier.

And that journey has been quite the ride. Let's take a stroll down memory lane, shall we?

1996

Hello world!

2004

After spending my early years hopping states, thanks to my Indian Army life, settled down in a small town in Karnataka.

2006

Won

TIME's Person of the Year

I mean, didn't we all

2012

The Mayans were wrong.

2013

I get my first phone, the Lumia 520, Windows Phone steals my heart — makes me realise that interfaces could be beautiful.

I move to Bengaluru, to study engineering.

2015

I discover Quora, attempted 'UI improvements' on it with pirated Photoshop — awful attempts, but it got me interested in design.

2017

I meet my girlfriend (now wife) on Quora. I secure my first job at Accenture, making a move to Chennai, India.

2018

I say goodbye to Accenture, hello to Bengaluru (again), and jump into a UX Bootcamp.

2019

Anish John takes a leap of faith and hires me at INKONIQ Design Studio, officially kicking off my design journey.

2023

After convincing our respective parents, I finally marry the most wonderful woman!

I get my first phone, the Lumia 520. Windows Phone becomes my first design crush — beautiful, sleek, and smooth, makes me realise that interfaces could be beautiful.

I move to Bengaluru, starting my engineering degree.

2015

I discover Quora and start contributing to the questions there.

2017

I meet my girlfriend (now wife) on Quora (she apparently liked my writing style).

We convince our parents and I finally marry the the most wonderful woman!

In the wild world of job titles, I'm what you'd call a Product Designer – or a UI/UX designer, or a digital designer, or that 'just send it to him, he’ll make it beautiful’ person. Whatever the title, I love creating experiences that make people’s lives a little easier.

So that's my journey - a mix of cities, serendipity, and design detours.

I am not the loudest in the room, but I see myself as a considerate human and a great listener . Everything I do is driven by a simple dream – for my family and wife to live their best lives. They're what makes me show up every day, ready to make things better.

Here's a quick glimpse into my work philosophy:

A minimalist black outline of a speech bubble on a white background, symbolising communication or messages.

Working together

No one likes being left in the dark, so I keep everyone updated and and happily ask for help when I'm stuck.

A simple black lightning bolt outline on a white background, representing energy or power.

Powered by Feedback

I actively seek feedback - every perspective helps shape better designs, and I’m always eager to learn.

Mastering chaos

The perfect design process might exist in theory. In reality, adapt and work effectively within given constraints

Reviews from those who couldn’t dodge my recommendation requests anymore

Beyond work, I'm usually immersed in space documentaries, listening to the entire Interstellar soundtrack for the hundredth time or testing yet another coffee brand in my quest to try them all. I can also be found obsessively checking if my mutual funds have made me rich yet (spoiler: they haven’t) or identifying fonts in the wild like they’re rare Pokémon.
